Installation Requirements
Exchange Server Requirements
Exchange Server (Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Service Pack 4 / Exchange 2000 Service Pack 2, Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1) OR Back Office Server 4.5 with Service Pack 3, or Back Office Server 2000 with latest Service Pack. (Note: Exchange 2000 or 2003 requires Windows Active Directory in Native Mode)
Software installed on Exchange Server
A new public folder will be created which will contain the TrackerOffice data on the exchange server. In addition 4 Global distribution lists (Universal Security Groups if using Exchange 2000/2003) will need to be created and forms for TrackerOffice will be stored into the Organizational Forms library.
Exchange Access Privileges Required
The person installing the software will need permission to create a public folder, permission to add forms to an organizational forms library, and permission to modify the distribution lists created.
Web Server Requirements
All of the TrackerOffice web pages will reside in one virtual directory (with several sub directories.) The Web server will be hosting web pages only; no server side scripting will be performed by the web server. The person installing the web pages will need to be able to write to the directory which will contain all of the web pages. They should also be able to create the physical directory and add a Virtual Directory to the Default Web Site in Internet Information Services (IIS) on the web server or the equivalent.
SQL Server Requirements
The SQL server may be installed on a separate machine or the same machine as the Web and/or Exchange servers.
Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 (Service Pack 4 recommended) or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (Service Pack 3 recommended). SQL server configured to use TCP/IP. TrackerOffice creates and uses one database on the SQL server.
TORouter Requirements
TORouter can run on any machine that has access to both the Exchange and SQL servers. There will be minimal Memory usage, but occasional high CPU usage. The disk space required is minimal. TORouter must remain active for Routing and Posting to function. We prefer that the TORouter not run on the MS Exchange server. In addition, the following are required on the TORouter server:
- Collaboration Data Objects. This can be installed from the MS Office CD as a feature of Outlook
- Outlook with recent service packs
- Office Web Components. This can be installed from the MS Office CD under the other category
- Optional: SQL Server Client Access Tools
Client Requirements:
- Windows 2000, Windows XP (all with recent service packs)
- 800x600 SVGA display or higher (1024x768 provides optimum view)
- Internet Explorer 5.x with latest service packs, Internet Explorer 6.x with latest service packs recommended
- Outlook 2000 with Service Pack 3 or higher, Outlook XP with Service Pack 2 or higher, Outlook 2003 with Service Pack 1 or higher
- TCP/IP installed and properly bound
- Collaboration Data Objects installed on the client. This can be installed from the MS Office CD as a feature of Outlook
- Office Web Components. This can be installed from the MS Office CD under the other category
- When the client configures TrackerOffice, several registry entries are added, so the client needs permission to add to the registry. If network policy prohibits client access to the registry, Automation Centre can work with internal IT to publish these registry settings administratively
- There are two small components that are installed when the client configures TrackerOffice: a date/time control and a component that allows users to programmatically set permissions on public folders when new users are added. If network policy prohibits client installation of new software, Automation Centre can work with internal IT to publish this software administratively
- Outlook 2003 can only be run in Cached Exchange Mode with a Post Service Pack 1 hotfix obtained directly from Microsoft
Requirements to Facilitate Remote Access/Installation
This information is not required for the Base Install. A member of Automation Centre will walk a local Administrator through the installation process via screen-share and teleconference.
